High-temperature leaf thermocouples use thin, flat welded metal strips for measurement between 800–1100°C. Molten-aluminium L-shaped thermocouples use Type K or N alloys built to withstand aluminium processing's heat and corrosion. Ceramic-sheathed R/S/B/K type thermocouples (platinum and platinum-rhodium elements) run up to 1700°C for kilns and furnaces, while dedicated kiln and boiler/furnace types in Type K/N handle continuous extreme-temperature duty with thermal-shock resistance.
